Genesys acquires Pinkfish

Genesys has acquired Pinkfish for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition integrates Model Context Protocol (MCP)-based tools and workflow automation into Genesys Cloud™ AI. This integration is designed to connect customer interactions with governed actions across enterprise systems to facilitate autonomous customer experiences.

“Agentic AI is moving customer experience from assisted engagement to governed execution,” said Glenn Nethercutt, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Genesys. “With Pinkfish, we’re advancing agentic orchestration by connecting customer intent to enterprise data, business workflows and governed actions through Genesys Cloud AI, so organisations can resolve more complex customer needs with greater autonomy, control and speed.”

Enterprise execution and agentic orchestration

As organisations transition from static workflows to autonomous AI, they require connectivity between customer engagement platforms and enterprise execution systems. The integration of Pinkfish is intended to allow Genesys Cloud Agentic Virtual Agent and Genesys Cloud Copilots to access data and execute actions across enterprise networks.

Pinkfish adds an MCP ecosystem to Genesys Cloud, featuring over 500 integrations that support 25,000 MCP tools across applications including CRM, ERP, IT, HR, order management, and billing. These capabilities aim to address common barriers to agentic AI adoption, such as fragmented systems, disconnected workflows, and operational complexity.

The acquisition is designed to expand the capabilities of Genesys Cloud Agentic Virtual Agent to orchestrate and complete tasks within established business guardrails. This allows the Virtual Agent to handle more complex end-to-end customer needs, increasing self-service resolution rates while reducing operational handoffs.

“We founded Pinkfish because we believe AI reaches its full potential only when it can securely operate across the enterprise,” said Charanya Kannan, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Pinkfish. “Every great customer experience combines meaningful conversations with meaningful action that spans CRM, ERP, billing and the rest of the enterprise. By bringing together the AI orchestration leadership of Genesys with the AI-powered workflow automation capabilities of Pinkfish, we will help organisations move toward AI that securely takes action, completes customer work across the enterprise and delivers exceptional customer experiences.”

AI-powered workflow automation

Combining Genesys Cloud AI with Pinkfish’s natural language-driven workflow automation allows organisations to build and deploy AI-driven customer experience workflows. This functionality is intended to make agentic orchestration accessible to business users and decrease deployment times.

For example, if a customer contacts a retailer regarding a delayed order, the Agentic Virtual Agent can verify order status, review shipping details, apply service credits, upgrade the shipment, and notify the customer. The system coordinates these actions across multiple platforms without human intervention, resolving the request within a single interaction rather than routing it through multiple departments.

These capabilities can also be integrated with Genesys Cloud Case Management to support workflow-intensive operations. Applicable business processes span both front-office and back-office functions, including:

  • Customer onboarding
  • Insurance claims processing
  • Return merchandise authorisations (RMAs)
  • Loan servicing requests
  • Warranty management

“The autonomous enterprise depends on the ability to coordinate actions across complex business environments while maintaining governance and control,” said Rebecca Wettemann, CEO and Principal Analyst of Valoir. “With the addition of Pinkfish, Genesys Cloud is poised to gain the workflow automation and enterprise connectivity needed to help organisations scale agentic orchestration.”
